Have you ever strolled through our state parks and noticed an oddly shaped metal basket? These baskets are used for disc golf! Disc golf dates back to the 1970s and has been a growing sport ever since. Disc golf has the same mindset as traditional golf. The objective is to get your disc or Frisbee® into the metal basket in as few throws (or strokes) as possible. Delaware State Parks offers 7 disc golf locations all throughout the state. See what each location has to offer!
Gather the family and head over to Bellevue State Park for a game of disc golf! This course wraps around the fitness track through moderate hills and lighted wooded areas. As you walk this course, you’ll witness the beautiful and historic estate of William du Pont, Jr. Whether you’re new to disc golf or have played for years, Bellevue is a great course for every type of player! Grab your disc, head over to Brandywine Creek State Park, and take on their disc golf course! Don’t own a disc? Don’t worry! The Brandywine Creek Nature Center has discs for sale. Once you have your disc, you’re ready to take on the hilliest course Delaware State Parks has to offer. Play along historic grey stone walls that stretch across the beautiful fields of Brandywine Creek. Learn more.
Get your feet sandy and enjoy a round of disc golf at Cape Henlopen State Park! This course takes you through maritime forests, so bring a keen eye to make sure you don’t lose your disc! Cape Henlopen offers a multi-pad course with 3 different starting pads, so no matter your skill level, anyone can play and have fun! Learn more.
Before your next dip in the pool at the Killens Pond Waterpark, take the family to the Killens Pond State Park disc golf course! At this 18-basket course, you’ll work your way through heavily wooded areas that will keep you cool during the summer days. If you forgot your disc that day, don’t worry! After swinging through the trees at Lums Pond’s Go Ape Treetop Adventure Course, walk over to the Lums Pond State Park disc golf course! This course is played under the wooded canopy, along the pond’s edge, and through the meadows of Area 1. You can also stop in the park office to purchase some new discs for your collection. After kayaking through the baldcypress trees, take a trip over to Trap Pond State Park disc golf course! This multi-basket and multi-pad course invites all disc lovers to send their disc flying through the heavily wooded course through the forest. Learn more.
Before laying out the blankets to enjoy a Summer Concert Series, walk the family over to White Clay Creek State Park’s disc golf course! Just a short walk down the hill from the Carpenter Recreation Area parking lot, you’ll find the first pad of the 18-basket course. This course is filled with scenic views along meadows and hillsides of beautiful White Clay Creek. Learn more.
