Cabin Fever be gone! Take your spring cleaning outdoors, make a difference, and volunteer! It is a tremendous task to manage, protect, and interpret Delaware’s natural and cultural resources. Hardworking park staff rely on volunteers to help fulfill that mission. Delaware State Parks are award-winning, but it wouldn’t be possible without the help of our volunteers!

Introducing the new Delaware State Parks Volunteer Calendar!

The calendar makes it easy to find and register for volunteer events online. Just a few hours can make a big difference! Check out the Calendar to find volunteer opportunities near you.

1. Celebrate Earth Day by Giving Back

Celebrate Earth Day by giving back! Earth Day is a global event with more than 1 billion people in 192 countries taking part in the largest civic-focused day of action in the world focused on environmental conservation and issues. Delaware State Parks offer a variety of ways to get outside and make a difference on Earth Day and throughout Earth Week (April 22-28). From  to Coast Cleanups to Trail Maintenance, there is a way for everyone to celebrate Earth Day! Look for specific EARTH DAY projects listed on our calendar or create your own day of service in your community.

2. Volunteer at our Historic Sites

Delaware State Park hosts multiple historic sites including a Civil War Fort at Fort Delaware, a Victorian Mansion at Bellevue State Park,  and the world’s largest working steam automobile collections at Auburn Valley State Park. You can help maintain these invaluable historic resources by  participating in activities such as National Historic Site Cleanup Day at Fort Delaware, or assisting our archeologist for a day through our Time Travelers Archeology program.

3. Keep Your Favorite Trail Beautiful

With over 240 miles of trails, volunteers are essential in keeping our trails accessible and safe for healthy outdoor recreation. Participate in monthly Trail Days such as those sponsored by the Friends of Cape Henlopen or the Friends of Holts Landing. Visit the calendar to learn more about Trail Days scheduled throughout the state and throughout the year.

Help keep your favorite trail the best that it can be!

4. Join our Environmental Stewardship Team:

Help preserve, conserve and protect Delaware natural areas. Environmental stewardship volunteers help in large projects such as the Christina River Cleanup or in scheduled conservation projects including tree planting and removal of invasive plants.

Consider volunteering as part of our environmental stewardship team.

5. Family Volunteer Days:

Bring the Family for a day of volunteering! Specific days are scheduled throughout the state and throughout the year to introduce children to the ethic of service and the legacy of their natural world. Check out the Volunteer Calendar for FAMILY VOLUNTEERS DAYS to learn more.
