There’s no better way to show support for Earth Day then to get out and visit your local Delaware State Park! This year all across Delaware we have programs going on to celebrate Earth Day! Earth Day is on Monday, April 22, 2019, but don’t worry there are plenty of programs throughout the week and weekend to show some love to our wonderful planet.
Join the City of Wilmington, Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, and dozens of local organizations as we celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day in Rodney Square! Come learn about the air, water, animals, plants, and much more as you listen to live entertainment. From 11am to 2pm, Rodney Square will be busy with activities and crafts for kids, food trucks, free giveaways, and educational displays. For more information click here.
Join us at Lums Pond State Park for a refreshing hike around the park. Afterward, we will meet up at Grain H20 and enjoy an elixir (non-alcoholic drink) such as the Peach Agave Tea, Berry Blast or Paloma Fizz. Pre-registration required. Call for cost and information (302) 368-6989. For more information click here.
Learn about the industrial and agricultural past of the area and how the Trolley Trail got its name. Parking has moved due to construction; contact the office at (302) 239-5687 to know where to park. This is a free event. For more information click here.
Meet at the Killens Pond nature center and give back this Earth Day. Please wear close-toed shoes, bring a water bottle and dress for the weather. Gloves and tools will be provided. Please register online by visiting our volunteers page. For more information please contact: Volunteer Manager, Alison Romano at alison.romano@delaware.gov
Join a naturalist at the Trap Pond Nature Center for a hike to celebrate Earth Day. Along the hike learn about the plants and animals that are native to Trap Pond. This is a free event so bring your family and friends to celebrate Earth Day! For more information click here.
