We are excited to introduce our 2020 Delaware State Parks Volunteer Photography Team!
This group of skilled photographers was selected to support the efforts of Delaware State Parks by documenting programs, natural landscapes, events, exhibits, and experiences within the parks. Their work will help inspire outdoor adventure, educate others about Delaware’s natural and cultural resources, and lead people to meaningful outdoor experiences. We are thrilled to work with these talented individuals, and you’re going to be seeing a lot of photos from this team over the coming year.
Meet the team!
Becky Ashley
What is your favorite subject to photograph?
I tend to take a lot of photos of the landscape. I enjoy capturing the trees, creeks and ponds as they change throughout the day and in different seasons. As a botanist by training, I enjoy getting up close and personal with all the different plants in the parks. I also can’t pass up a sunrise, sunset or any great reflection shots.
How long have you been a photographer?
I’ve been taking photographs all my life, but became a serious hobbyist about 7 years ago.
What do you love about Delaware State Parks?
I enjoy spending time in the parks by myself, with my family and especially with our dogs. I love experiencing the parks as they change throughout the seasons. The parks offer such a diversity of settings – from the hilly, heavily forested parks in Northern Delaware to the sandy wide open beaches of Delaware Seashore State Park.
What about being a volunteer photographer are you most looking forward to?
I look forward to sharing my views of the parks with a wider audience. I am also excited about seeing some of the parks that I haven’t previously visited, as well as learning about and photographing the many programs that the parks have to offer.

My favorite subject to photograph is a wide natural landscape.
How long have you been a photographer?
I have been involved with photography for 8 years, but have recently turned it into a hobby.
What do you love about Delaware State Parks?
The thing I love about Delaware State Parks is the variety in landscapes and wildlife.
What about being a volunteer photographer are you most looking forward to?
I am most looking forward to providing new perspectives to guests visiting our state parks.

I love the diversity. There are so many different types of parks and so many activities.

Meeting and interacting with people as they enjoy the parks and pushing my photographic skills.

How long have you been a photographer?
Renewed my interest in photography 7 years ago when I received my 1st digital camera. I was a former Art Major in college.
What do you love about Delaware State Parks?
I love the beauty of the Delaware State Parks. The plants and wildlife native to Delaware are favorite subjects. I also love the Delaware shore and shorebirds.
What about being a volunteer photographer are you most looking forward to?
I am looking forward to exploring new parks and trying to capture the beauty of this state to share with others. I am also looking forward to the educational/environmentally-focused programs offered by the Delaware State Park Rangers.

I graduated from Wilmington University in 2015 with a degree in Media Design/Photography. While my passion for photography has been evident my entire life, I started taking photography more seriously in 2012 – almost 9 years ago!

I love the variety of the State Parks in Delaware. You have everything from the woods to swamps to beaches! There’s always something new to explore.
