The kids are almost done school, and summer vacations are coming up. Memorial Day Weekend is right around the corner, and to celebrate, Delaware State Parks offers exciting family-friendly activities across the state. You can always catch some sunshine at Cape Henlopen State Park, Delaware Seashore State Park and Fenwick Island State Park, but don’t miss these other adventures!
Starting on Saturday, May 25, Killens Pond Waterpark is back open for the season! Enjoy exciting interactive water features for all ages. Adventure-seekers will love the twists and drops of the four speed slides, while younger guests can make a splash in the tot lot. Take a dip in the cool water, or simply relax in the sun by the pool’s edge. Learn more.
Looking to gain rich Delaware history with the family? Fort Delaware, the Union fortress dating back to 1859, once housed Confederate prisoners of war. It was originally built to protect the ports of Wilmington and Philadelphia. Today, you can fill your day with hands-on history at Fort Delaware. Help the blacksmith hammer out new parts for a cannon, work with the laundress, or be on hand when the 8-inch Columbiad gun fires a live gunpowder charge! Learn more
The Delaware State Park Summer Concert Series is back for the season beginning on Saturday, May 25! These free concerts are the perfect way to spend a summer evening. Trap Pond State Park Nature Center is kicking off the 2019 Summer Concert Series with Lower Case Blues on Saturday, May 25 at 6:30pm! Lower Case Blues is a jammin’ trio that plays a new fusion of old blues, funk, and rock. Seven different parks host free concerts throughout the summer. Learn more about the Summer Concert Series!
The Brandywine Zoo is a dynamic and fun learning center for children of all ages located in beautiful Brandywine Park in Wilmington, Delaware. The Brandywine Zoo is home to animals from the temperate regions of the world.
