Earlier this month, Delaware State Parks was proud to receive the distinction of 2018 Tourism Partner of the Year by Southern Delaware Tourism.
It was the support to the southern Delaware economy that led to Delaware State Parks being named Tourism Partner of the Year. With offerings like outdoor recreation; an array of overnight accommodations, events and concessions; guarded swimming beaches; historic sites; and more, our Sussex-based State Parks saw 3+ million visitors in FY18 that contributed to more than $290 million in economic impact.
In southern Delaware, the beaches are just the beginning. Guests can find a multitude of events and programs in Delaware’s State Parks. Events such as the Boo-B-Que BBQ Festival, the largest Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) BBQ Competition east of the Mississippi River in 2018, Cape Henlopen’s WinterWonderFEST drive-thru light show; and the TrapPond Partner’s Beer, Wine & Spirits Festival at Trap Pond State Park have all continued to grow, some even gaining national attention.
From Sea Turtles Hatching at Fenwick Island State Park, to paddling through Delaware’s waters, while making a substantial economic impact, Delaware State Parks continues its mission of providing safe and enjoyable recreational opportunities and the responsible stewardship of Delaware’s lands, cultural, and natural resources.
Please join us in congratulating our teams at Fenwick Island State Park, Trap Pond State Park, Delaware Seashore State Park, and Cape Henlopen State Park on this exciting award.
