Today, we are excited to be the first to welcome you to our newest Delaware State Park. Earlier today, Governor John Carney joined DNREC Secretary Sean Garvin and Delaware State Parks Director Ray Bivens to officially designate and rename Auburn Heights Preserve as Auburn Valley State Park. Located in Yorklyn, Delaware, this site has already become a true asset to the local and surrounding communities, and we are excited to welcome it as our 17th Delaware State Park.
Featuring new hiking and paved biking trails, the historic Marshall Mansion, and the Marshall Steam Museum, this park truly has much to discover. While much of the work is just beginning, there are already several ways you can get outdoors and enjoy this new park.
Dating back to 1897, the Marshall mansion tells the story of the family that once called Auburn Valley State Park home. Tour the Marshall Mansion and discover just what it would be like to live there.

Appreciate the beauty of Auburn Valley State Park by exploring Red Clay Creek. Discover the critical role of water in the industrial development of Yorklyn and the revitalization of the surrounding community.

The Marshall Steam Museum houses the largest collection of operating steam cars in the world. Step back in time to the magic age of steam, view Stanley Steamers, and experience life at the dawn of the automotive age.
Join us for Steamin’ Days
One of the best ways to experience Auburn Valley State Park is by joining us for Steamin Days. [Link to Steamin Day]. Taking place monthly, park Guests have the opportunity to tour the Marshall Mansion and discover just what it would be like to live there. The Marshall Steam Museum also welcomes visitors to tour and invites Guests to enjoy rides on the miniature trains and steam cars that circle the property Did we mention the complementary steam made popcorn?
