Located in Northern Delaware, just outside of downtown Wilmington, Bellevue State Park is a 328 acre, former DuPont estate. This quaint urban oasis offers over 4 miles of easy hiking trails, suitable for all ages, that provide a glimpse into living like royalty. Check out these trails on your next outdoor adventure to Bellevue State Park!

Equestrian Trail

This 3-mile long trail takes you through the Bellevue Woods Nature Preserve, as well as our beautiful meadows, quaint forests, and our iconic tunnel of trees that shines bright yellow during autumn. While enjoying your walk, keep a lookout for DuPont-era buildings, including the Arts Center (once a potting shed with three greenhouses), Bellevue Hall, and Mr. DuPonts coveted stables. Speaking of horses, horseback riders enjoy this trail, too, so remember to share the path, and…watch your step.

Main Track

Built in the early 1930s, William DuPont Jr. used this 1.2 mile (or 9 furlongs) track to train his prized thoroughbred horses. Today, our guests use it daily to walk, run or bike around the beautiful meadows, forests, and pond that fit inside this massive track. Additional features are dotted along its path, too, like exercise stations and playgrounds.

Northern Greenway

The Northern Delaware Greenway Trail spans much of Northern New Castle County (10.4 miles), taking hikers from Fox Point State Park to the Brandywine Zoo, with part of it going right through Bellevue! At about 1.5 miles, our section of the trail takes you from Cauffiel House to the Percheron Barn, with numerous historic and natural sights to see along the way.
